Mr. Bill's Adventureland Review![]()

Do yourself a favor and buy this game for any kid you know (including yourself)! It is absolutely great, a pure adventure, with an adorable pint size hero that has now become enshrined as our latest PC Wallpaper because my wife loves him so much.
We originally decided to review the game because when we purchased it for our godson's 5th birthday, he fell in love with it and had to have the sequel and then the other Humongous adventures, so we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. And we had a ball! We even needed a hint at one point, and now we're personally so hooked that we'll play any future 'Pajama Sam' games that they create!
You play a 6 year old named Sam (in pajamas with feet in them!) who's afraid of the dark, but his mom thinks he's old enough to sleep without a night light. So to build up his courage, he pretends that he is his comic book superhero 'Pajama Man', and calling himself 'Pajama Sam' he sets out to capture 'Darkness' and imprison him in his lunchbox. To do so he must travel to the 'Land of Darkness' that is located somewhere in his scary closet, of course.
Along the way, he meets and interacts with many unforgettable characters and must think out and solve problems of logic and memory, with even a little "gratuitous educational content" thrown in for good measure. It's a true adventure game, with no violence, and teaches all of the good things that we all want our kids to learn (politeness, sharing, helping, etc) by means of an admirable little boy role model.
Not only that, but the game is truly replayable, unlike most adult adventures that claim they are. We replayed it 3 times and each time had several different puzzles to solve. It's a PC/Mac hybrid CD with a very simple, easy to use interface and basically plays from the CD without taking up hard drive space except for saved games.
This game gives us high hopes for the future of adventure gaming and we highly recommend that you buy it for your children or grandchildren (and play it with them!), because it will definitely instill in them a love for adventure games rather than, and hopefully in place of, just the shoot-em-up action/arcade games.
