Introduction:

Knights Quest IV is a shortish but stylish game in the style of the Kings Quest series of games. Knights Quest IV is fairly easily playable without a walkthrough. However, this walkthrough has been written for those people who get hopelessly stuck and are desperate for help.

Knights Quest IV is in fact the first Knights Quest game, (Knights Quest 3, which is a much longer game, was issued after Knights Quest IV).

Controls:

Menu: take cursor to top of screen, and menu will appear (action-icons, save, load, score, etc)

Left-click = cycle through action-icons (walk, look, talk, etc)

Right-click = walk to point you clicked on

Walkthrough:

Take the dead King’s crown and boots.
Go north.
Take ring from grass at base of mountain.
Climb mountain path to top of mountain.
Look at statue.
Look at hole at right of statue.
Place crown on head of statue.
Place boots on feet of statue.
Click on / walk into pink magic portal that appears.

You are transported to pink clouds and old man.
Go through conversations with old man (yourself 125 years into the future).
Click hand icon on door 1.

You are now in the period of Knights Quest 1.
Go up screen and across stone bridge to front of castle.
Go into castle entrance.
Talk to Princess Athina.  She gives you some vodka.
Go up slope between the columns, and leave screen towards the top on the left side.
Talk to the gardener in the gardens (a chain-smoking vodka-breath guy).
He gives you his back-up flask i.e. a cup
Offer him the vodka – he says he is not drinking that straight.
Click the cup on the water south of the island, the cup fills up.
Click the vodka bottle on the water-cup. Look at cup (vodka and water). Give cup to gardener.
Again click the vodka bottle on the water-cup.
Give cup to gardener.  He passes out (drunk).
Click hand-icon on gardener. You get cigarettes and ivy seeds.

Go back down path to castle courtyard and princess.
Give cigarettes to princess.
She arranges for the King to meet you in the garden.
Go back up to the garden.
Talk to King (he looks like King Graham from Kings Quest 1).
Go back down and then out of castle and back to the round pink portal and walk into it.

At the pink clouds, go through Door XV11 (into the future), and go to the castel entrance, it is blocked up.
Go back to down to the round pink portal and walk into it.

At the pink clouds, go through Door 1 (the past).
Go up to the entrance of the castle and plant the ivy seeds at the green patch on the right-hand side of the castle.

Go back down to the pink portal and through it to the pink clouds.
Go through Door XV11 (the future).
Go up to the castle entrance, and see the door is now covered with ivy.
Click the hand-icon on the ivy to climb it.

You are on side of the tower, and can see the "princess in the future".  You will automatically talk to her.
The princess gives you the key, which is actually a Magic Time Wand.
She says you must go to the Time Vortex and wave the wand and then slay the Overlord.
You automatically climb back down to the castle entrance
Go down to the round pink portal and walk in.

You are back at the pink clouds.
Hmmm, this is used to travel to different times, so it must be the Time Vortex the princess talked about.
Get the Time Wand from inventory and click it on the pink clouds.

You are teleported to another world, with a door in the hillside.
Click on sword in inventory, so that it becomes an action-icon.  You are now ready to fight the Overlord.
Click hand-icon on door in hillside.

The game tells you that it is all over, the credits appear, and the game says "To be continued".

Well, it was fun while it lasted!!!
